Lima, July 27th, 2021. Today, Enel Distribución Perú S.A.A. published its financial and operating results for the first semester of 2021.

“The progressive economic reactivation of the country has been positively impacting the entire electricity sector and Enel Distribución Perú is not exempt from it. In this period, we have registered an important level of revenue and operating results, which allow us to move forward with our ambitious investment plan that aims to continue improving the quality of service provided to our clients, maintain payment facility programs in the face of the pandemic, and bring energy to homes in vulnerable situations in our concession area” said Marco Fragale, Country Manager of Enel Perú.

  •
  • REVENUE: increased due to higher energy sales (+13.4%) as a result of the general recovery of demand from our customers and tolls, compared to the period of economic slowdown registered since the second quarter of 2020 due to the pandemic. This fact was partially offset by a lower average sale price (-2.5%).
  • EBITDA: increased due to higher revenues, which were partially offset by higher physical energy purchases (+9.6%) and an increase in the purchasing price of energy (+3.6%) associated with the indexation of the contracts tendered.
  • NET INCOME: increased primarily as a result of better operating performance. This significantly offset the increase in amortizations related to investments and the growth in income tax associated with a higher tax base in this period, accompanied by a deferred tax adjustment from previous years.
  • DEBT WITH THIRD PARTIES: increased by 78 million soles, mainly to ensure our commitment to guarantee the continuity and quality of the service provided throughout the pandemic. It also made it possible to finance the annual investment plan and continue to provide payment facilities to our clients during the health emergency due to COVID-19.
  • CAPEX: increased by 74 million soles, due to greater execution of digitization projects and the increase in maintenance and modernization activities of our distribution networks. Likewise, we have been making progress in electrifying homes in vulnerable situations through the “Energía para Crecer” program, which plans to bring energy to 20,000 families this year. It should be noted that the electricity supply in our concession area has been operating normally since the beginning of the pandemic, in line with our objective of ensuring the quality and continuity of the service for our clients.

  •
  • ENERGY DISTRIBUTION (GWh): increased mainly due to a recovery in the energy consumption from our customers and tolls, following a deep contraction in economic activities in the second quarter of 2020 associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • CUSTOMERS: increased by 2.1% mainly due to new residential connections (regulated low voltage customers).
